The Weight of the Spotlight
Ever wondered why you were given a voice, a platform, or a position of influence? What if the spotlight wasn’t just for your benefit, but for someone else’s breakthrough?
When God lifts a man or woman, it’s never just for personal gain, it’s a divine entrustment. That position, that platform, that voice, that influence? It’s meant to serve a greater purpose.
Some messages need to be heard by the world, and for that to happen, they require the right vessel, someone whose voice carries weight and whose life speaks volumes.
There
are countless people with profound, life-changing messages. But because they
don't yet have the visibility, their voices are not amplified. Meanwhile,
others who have been elevated by grace or through consistent work; find
themselves in a position where the world is paying attention. When God places
you in such a position, the responsibility to uplift, empower, and inspire
others becomes non-negotiable.
Take the movie industry, for example. We all know that films are powerful storytelling tools. Some big-name filmmakers draw massive audiences simply because of their reputation. They've earned their place and built platforms over time. However, there are also lesser-known creators producing films rich with meaning, yet their work doesn’t get the reach it deserves. Why? Because they lack the same visibility. Some of the big names use their platform to push meaningful narratives into the world. Others, not so much. Kudos to those who do.
Here’s the truth: You might say 'oh well, I am not a role model and I didn't ask anyone to make me one'... well too bad. Whether or not you signed up to be a role model, once you’re in the spotlight, people are watching.
They’re learning from you, mimicking you, drawing inspiration or caution from how you live. You’re influencing lives, whether you mean to or not.
That’s why influence comes with weight. It’s not just about fame or applause, it’s about responsibility. If God has placed you in a position of influence, it’s not just for your comfort or success. It’s because there are lives attached to your obedience, your message, and your actions. Influence is not just a privilege, it is a responsibility.
You’ve
probably heard the saying: “You are blessed to be a blessing.” It’s
true. You are lifted for a reason. Your life can’t just be about you. What impact are you making? Are you
contributing to a better world, or only chasing personal gain? If your
influence benefits only you, then you’ve missed the point.
So pause. Reflect. What are you doing with the platform God has given you? Because, like the old saying goes: “With great power comes great responsibility.”
Here is a call to action. Ask yourself, 'how can I use my influence today to uplift someone?'
